Mission Statement

The GVR Canine Club is a social & resource club committed to supporting and educating members and their canines.  Our focus is to enhance the physical and mental health of our members through positive, fun interactions and social connections. Club activities focus on dog owner education, guest speakers, website resources, and fun activities.  We benefit dog owners and dog lovers within the Green Valley community by providing better socialized dogs, and more responsible dog owners.

We welcome all GVR members, all GVR dog owners and dog lovers, regardless of origin, breed, size or age.

Winter/Spring Canine Skills Classes

Each month features four expertly led classes, designed by experienced dog trainers to help you and your canine companion learn and grow together. To ensure every participant receives personalized attention and has a rewarding experience, class sizes are limited to just six teams per session.

Members: Four classes per month for only $40/mth
The deadline for enrolling is the Tuesday before the class begins. Space is limited, so be sure to register early to secure your spot!
St. Francis in the Valley Episcopal Church - Central Courtyard 600 La Canada Drive, GV, 85614
Time: Each Class will take place on Tuesdays 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Marker Training  - January 6, 13, 20, & 27, 2026 at 1PM
Karen Seifert, Trainer, M.A., CPDT-KA, PPG Instructor, KPA-CTP
Revolutionize your training by learning how to clearly communicate with your dog. Marker Training is commonly known as Clicker Training, but it does not require a clicker…only your voice and good timing.
Participants will learn to understand the language of dogs by knowing the difference between classical and operant conditioning, so your dog happily and more quickly learns to do what you want.  Classes will concentrate on teaching good foundations for obedience behaviors. This foundation can prevent or help with any future problems you might encounter.

Intro to Nose Work - February 3, 10, 17, & 24, 2026 at 1PM
Pat Boone, Trainer, NACSW, CNWI
In this class,
your dog will search for treats placed in boxes, which engages their hunting drive. Each session introduces new puzzles, gradually increasing in difficulty to challenge your dog’s problem-solving abilities.
By the end of the course, both you and your dog will possess the knowledge and skills needed to continue enjoying nose work together for years to come.
For everyone's comfort and learning, your dog should be able to relax in a crate or vehicle while waiting for his turn. This arrangement not only gives your dog a chance to rest between activities but also lets you observe and learn from the experiences of other participants.

Become your Dog’s Trainer - March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 2026 at 1PM
Roger Nelson, CDT of Green Valley Canine
Through Positive Reinforcement, this class will teach you about verbal commands, hand signals, timing of rewards and corrections, body language, voice inflection, and dog psychology.
It will teach you leadership skills that will help your dog see you as the undisputed but kindly pack leader.
You will discover how dogs learn and develop skills that will last their lifetime.
